3 for Thursday!!!

Whoa!  I almost didn't make it!  Let's go!

Three things that is stole borrowed from my kids' Halloween stash.
1.  All the Baby Ruth mini bars.
2.  A caramel apple.
3.  Smarties.

Three things I buy that have to be name brand.
1.  Dawn dish soap.  Nothing works better.
2.  Chewy Chips Ahoy.
3.  Edy's Rocky Road ice cream.  It is the only one left with real marshmallows.

Three things I spend more than 15 minutes doing every day.
1.  Pinterest.
2.  Sleep during Sesame Street (late nights, early mornings = Mommy has earned a daily nap.)
3.  Try so hard to keep up with bloggy friends and e-mails.

Three things that put me in a fantastic mood.
1.  Belting out a good song.
2.  Talking on the phone with my mom or sisters.
3.  A good hug and/or kiss from the Mister.
Three things I do that a grown woman has no right to be doing anymore.
1.  Use any excuse I can to put glitter on my face.
2.  Watch only the Disney channel.  (Ok, I branch out sometimes, but rarely.  The TV is only on when the kids are awake.)
3.  Freak out (just a little) when I go to the basement at night to change the laundry.

Three pictures:
I just recently uploaded a bunch of photos from my iPod.  These are all from my trip home this summer.

Me and one of my sweet nieces.

Maybe I should have listed this under one of the things a grown woman has no right doing.
This is one of about 5 pictures of me and my sister, Erin.

Ok, perhaps I'm brown-nosing name-dropping a little here, but...
I got to visit with Evelyn when we went home.  This is in my mom's backyard and that boy that L is lovingly gazing at is Evelyn's son, Dee.  I thought she should see that.  =)

There!  Now, to join in the fun, head over to Evelyn's blog, Hanging By a Silver Lining!

3 for Thursday!!!

Yay!  Three for Thursday has returned.  And that means, two posts in one day!  (woohoo!)

The questions come from my good friend, Evelyn, whom I had the great fortune of seeing (face to face!) and enjoying a very pleasant chat with a couple of weeks ago, is hosting today.

So, on to fun!

Three accomplishments that I have under my belt.

1.  I graduated college.  This has been one of the greatest blessings in my life so far.  It was the foundation that allowed me to develop a career in which I can work at home, taking care of my kids and supporting the Mister through his college career.
2.  I spent every summer for 10 years performing in community musicals, even managing to get a couple parts with names!  This is something I dreamed about doing as a child and dream of doing again.  I love, love, love to be on stage singing and dancing.
3.  One marriage, two kids, just getting started.

Three things that my grandma and I have in common:

1.  Crochet.  I used to watch her sit and crochet and wish that I could make pretty things like that.  So, I figured out how and now when ever I pull out my yarn and needles I feel close to her.
2.  Food.  One of the ways my grandma showed her love for her family and friends was to cook for them.  Every time I would go to her house she would ask if I was hungry as she was pulling food out of the fridge.  Then, she'd feed me a delicious dinner and send me home with leftovers.
3.  Spoonerisms.  She was a master at mixing up words.  I'm still perfecting the craft, but I'm getting pretty good at it.

Three plans for Labor Day:

1.  Maybe a picnic.
2.  Rest.
3.  Unpack.

Three ridiculous things I have spent money on:

1.  I bought something called Honey Elixir for my girls a few weeks ago.  I bought it because it was made to help kids under 6 with sore throats and coughs.  Turns out it was basically just honey thinned down with water.  I could have made that much cheaper than I bought it for.
2.  Doughnuts the other day.  There were no chocolate ones in the batch.  What's the point?
3.  I honestly can't think of anything else.  I'm sure there is something, though, and I'll be sure to tell you when I think of something.

Three things that only time will fix:

1.  School.  Mister has 2 more years to graduation.  It's kinda tough, but we will get through this and be all the better for it.
2.  No nap days.  Sometimes they happen, but the next day is always a good chance for kids to sleep a lot.
3.  Winter.  I'm not really a fan of the super cold days.  (I do, however, like the Christmas part of winter and the initial two months of snow and soup nights.  Once Christmas is over, though, Winter is just cold.)  Spring always rolls back around.

Three pictures:

There were two of them eating the grass in my front lawn!  So cute!

L on my birthday.  Sorry about the snotty nose, but she's still soooooo cute!

O and L have discovered my makeup and have been spending many mornings "applying" it to each other.  Fortunately for me, they have stuck to just pretending and replace it all when they are done.  They're so good!

Thanks, Evelyn!

Three for Thursday

Alright!  I'm enough back in the swing of things that I am joining up with Three for Thursday again.  Evelyn is hosting this week.  And, I'm thrilled to announce that she has asked me, along with Katy over at The House of Estrogen, to co-host!  Yay!  So, watch for the prompt with me next week and play along if you are so inclined!

Three confessions:
1.  I know I need more sleep, but I can't seem to get myself to go to sleep until way too late (it's so late I can't even bring myself to write it!  I will say I haven't been going to sleep until about 2 hours after I finish working at night and I work until 11:30 almost every night).
2.  I'm addicted to the TV show Monk.  I've discovered it on Netflix and can't seem to get enough.  What am I going to watch when I've completed the whole series?
3.  I love to do Pilates...but I also love to eat cookies.  They don't seem to be working together as I would have hoped.

Three things I do to beat the heat:
1.  Turn up the AC.
2.  Stay inside during the hottest part of the day.
3.  Play outside with my girls and the hose.

Three lessons, skills, or new tricks I have learned this past month:
1.  I'm learning how to stop worrying so much about keeping my house super clean and more about keeping my kids happy and myself sane.
2.  Once again in my life, I am learning the importance and power of sincere and earnest prayer.

3.  O is teaching my how to be a princess and that if I spend a few minutes every day making myself feel like a princess it really makes a difference on the whole day.

Three things that motivate me to be a better person:
1.  My girls.
2.  My husband.
3.  The scriptures.

Three things I would do if I wasn’t “Mommy”, married, and burdened with cares:
1.  I would be in as many plays as I could manage.
2.  I would try to get a spot in a choir, maybe some type of show choir or maybe even the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  That would be amazing!
3.  Travel, travel, travel.

Three people I call first:
1.  My mom.
2.  My sisters.
3.  My husband.

Three things I changed about my parenting after testing them out on my guinea pig child (first child):
1.  Routines are important, but don't need to be absolute.  It's ok to be flexible.
2.  My multitasking skills have increased immensely.  I seem to be getting a lot more done with two than I did with one.
3.  I wasn't very uptight when I first became a mother--at least I didn't think I was--but I am much more relaxed about things now.  Not that I'm perfectly calm and collected now, but it's a skill I'm definitely developing.

Three things that make me cry:
1.  Being tired.
2.  Being angry.

3.  Being happy.
(I cry a lot.  Can you tell?)

Three things I’m going to accomplish before the summer is over:
1.  I'm making another quiet book/activity book for my girls.  I'm starting today.
2.  I'm going home for a nice vacation.
3.  I'm going to see the last Harry Potter at least twice.

Three pictures:

Speaking of beating the heat, we have a little mat that hooks up to the hose and sprays water.  I had hooked that up for the girls to play with, but when the Mister saw it, he brought out two big sheets of plastic, put the mat at one end and rigged the other end to form a little pool.  We had a perfect slip and slide (on a tiny hill in our front yard) with a pool at the end.  All four of us played for the afternoon and had a blast!

Um, hello big blue eyes and amazing curls!

O managed to slide into L nearly every time!  L took the fall each time and, characteristic of her, she would just get up and keep walking back up to the top of the slide.

She's just getting so big and more and more beautiful every day.

Head over to Hanging by a Silver Lining to link up this week!

P.S.  Have I mentioned that there are prizes involved for linking up?  Hmmm...just a thought!
