Magnetic Activity Book

Ok.  I know, I know, I just posted a project.

But, seriously, I've been so excited to get these finished and show you that I'm just not going to wait.  =)

Here are my sheets of steel from Mindy Mae's Market all laid out and shiny.
Don't they just give you tingles?

Here is another project I used them for:

This is an idea that has been in my head for a long, long, long time. Really long.

I just couldn't quite figure out how I wanted to do it.  I'm still not sure if this is what I wanted, so there may be some tweaking later on, but for now, this is what we've got.

It's a book.
It looks pretty ordinary, right?

Except you can't really tell that the green closure flap there, is magnetic.  woo!

Now, if you open it, this is your first glance...

Keep opening, though.  There's more.  (And this is where it gets really exciting!)
It is an activity book!

There is a big pocket to hold big things and, of course, the fancy magnetic page.
That's where the action would happen.

Then, of course, 4 smaller pockets to hold even more magnetic fun!

Here now, is where I need some advice.  I am trying to figure out what activities to fill those beautiful pockets with.

I've already started working on some magnetic paper dolls (which are awesome, by the way...keep watching for that post!), but what else might a 3 (almost 4)-year-old and 2-year old enjoy?

What would you do?

Thanks, friends!

P.S. This is also being linked up at Embracing Messy.

I'll be linking up with my normals as well!

  1. oooh, this is so cool! i just recently made some magnetic quiet books but i love the idea of those large sheets of metal! i used some magnetic paper you can feed through the printer to make some of my kids' favorite tv characters into magnets. they played with them on a cookie sheet on our long car trip, but i love this idea for a smaller size (perfect for restaurants, church, etc)! we'd love for you to link this to our Sunday Best party. http://griffithsrated.blogspot.com/2012/04/sunday-best-fashion-crafts.html

  5. Do food or cakes. With the cakes you could make like frosting layers or other decorations. You could also do stuff for a garden. Or like a table with place settings. Have fun!

  7. Too cute! Dolls were my first thought, but you're already doing that...maybe add some scene decorations for "building" pictures or just using with dolls. I'm thinking things like the sun or moon, maybe a tree, a cloud, a bird, a house, etc.

  9. What a fantastic idea! I'm afraid I can't really help with suggestions for activities, other than to suggest you try searching for quiet books as some of those ideas are transferable. There's loads of pins on Pinterest for quiet books.

  12. What fun idea! My daughter has a set of magnetic dolls and she loves them. Those are sure to be a big hit. What about making other little scenes like a tea set to play with? Thank you for sharing on A Crafty Soiree.
